Post Election Resources

As my students (and I) have been processing the election results, these are some of the resources I compiled and included in my class yesterday which are from Brown Girl Therapy and AAPI Women Lead. AND, in sharing these resources, one of the precursors I shared with students is that as we do these things, not more than ever, we also need to rely on, with, and in community~

​As a note, not every strategy will work or might be best for you; these are recommendations so make sure to listen to yourself on what you need

How to Manage This Week | tips from ​Brown Girl Therapy

• Specificity helps: chaos causes distraction and compounds; what specific issue(s) you are worried about? 
• Set boundaries on news consumption
• Find and lean into the good and meaningful (NOT a plug for toxic positivity) 
• Create a routine and stability when you can
• Lean into community

Post-Election Safety & Strategies | tips from AAPI Women Lead

• Mental health: check in on yourself; schedule (paid) time off if you have it; give yourself space & time to process; refill medication(s)
• Physical safety: pack a “go bag”; shop for groceries, check tires, fill up gas tank
• Consider: where could you stay if short notice, who can you call if in crisis? Where is the closest sanctuary city? 

Digital Safety and Strategies | tips from AAPI Women Lead​

• Keep you data private and opt out when you are able; check your privacy settings
• Don’t rely just on one browser, social media platform, etc.
• Be careful about what to repost; ask for permission & keep each other safe
• Consider: when we amplify people, could it bring them harm? How do we share resources?
